My Story

My Story as an African-American Woman: Creating a Yoni Wash Company

Menopause. It’s a word that carries weight—a life change many of us hear about but rarely discuss, especially in the African-American community. Growing up, there were whispers, stories passed between aunties, and silent suffering behind closed doors. When menopause came for me, it brought not just hot flashes and mood swings but a deep sense of isolation and discomfort that no one prepared me for. As a Black woman, I faced these changes feeling like I had to keep up appearances, stay strong, and handle it on my own.

But the truth? Menopause disrupted everything. It irritated me to my core—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It brought dryness, irritation, and an imbalance that made me feel disconnected from my own body. I tried over-the-counter solutions that did little but add chemicals and empty promises to my routine. I needed products that were as real and nurturing as the conversations we deserve to have about menopause.

So I decided to create my own solution—a line of Yoni wash products designed for women like me, by a woman like me. My mission as a CEO became clear: I wanted to create products that weren’t just gentle and effective but that spoke to the unique needs of Black women navigating intimate wellness. Our bodies carry resilience, beauty, and complexity that deserve care, not silence.

Each formula I developed centers on natural ingredients that honor and respect our health. It’s about more than soothing symptoms; it’s about reclaiming comfort, confidence, and community. Menopause doesn’t have to be an isolating experience, and as an African-American woman, I refuse to accept anything less than what we all deserve—a supportive space, a sense of empowerment, and products that actually work.

This business is my way of turning irritation into action, silence into strength, and self-care into a powerful statement. We are not alone on this journey. Together, we can break the silence, care for ourselves, and redefine what it means to thrive at every stage of life.
